enjoying the sun...

What have I done well?
It's been a good week to catch up with a few people...I met my Alan for a meal in Hammersmith as he left BT about 7 months ago and is really enjoying his new job. We arranged to meet a 6pm outside a coffee shop and I got there a bit earlier to avoid the peak time traffic and when it got to 6pm I smiled to myslef and thought 'Alan should be out in another 30 minutes or so' When he worked at BT, we would make arrangements and sometimes would get out off the office until 8 or 9pm or sometimes just apologise and cancel....
So I'm sitting there enjoying the last of my coffee and the people walking by and 2 minutes after six, Alan walks down the road looking relaxed and a smile on his face - and not a forced one at that. It looked like he was enjoying life and his new job and what I remember the most about the evening was that we hugged hello and we hugged goodbye - it takes time to build friendships, but when you get there, you make each other feel good.
I had a really good evening and of course Alan was also showing off his new baby, a Samsung Netbook...looked lovely and if a good deal comes along then I'll be tempted too....

Wednesday evening I met up with Tracy along the Southbank - she is always a great person to chat to for hours and whilst we shared stories across the dinner table, the sun was setting on London Town and reflecting on the Thames...always such a beautiful place to be on a day like that..
We started the evening, having a 99 flake and standing by the river, the tide was out and Tracy said that if anyone decided to clean up the pebble beach, set up a few tables and serve drinks, then they would make a killing. I did look at her thinking she was joking and when I realized she wasn't I told her that the river was tidal and yes you would make a killing, but it wouldn't the kind you were hoping for! We all have those moments when ideas seem so good you wonder why no-one's done them before...
When I got home that evening, I had a text message from Danny and it was just the sweetest 'Tell my wife that I love her very much' How cool is that?

The rest of the week has been spent getting back to 'normal' and I want to do a bit of yoga to stretch out my arms and shoulders as my injury has had a knock on effect...football was good and I felt less conscious about my arm although I know I'm holding back a bit

What will I do differently? Make more of the sun and either get out there to walk around the lakes and parks or get into the garden and start the work that's needed in there!

What still puzzles me? I wanted to move my relationship 'status' forward by finding someone that I could spend the rest of my life with and instead I'm only finding women who are either after a quick bit of emotional fix (and let's not beat about the bush, a shag) or if you talk too much about what they want out of theirs lives, then they back off... So I'm either doing something wrong or I've not met the right person...do I engage in the physical side or stay alone until I meet the right person...both routes are tricky...

What did I learn?
If you disappear, no-one notices after a very short while...

Pirate Bay got sunk (sort off)...for me it been a great source of new music and far east cinema...both of which I've downloaded and got lots of pleasure from...and if I can then I go see the band live if they play in London or go to a film festival...so yes I spend less on dvd's and cd's, but that money is then used on tickets, tshirts and the like...a few examples....downloaded White Stripes, my daughter fell in love with them...I took her and her friend to the concert and bought them both tshirts...total cost of cd's @ £8 would have been £16 (for the two I downloaded). Instead I spent £100 on tickets and shirts....what would the music industry prefer...both and that's just being greedy! There are more examples that I have and with much less known bands....in fact the last concert I went to only had a 100 people there...and I would never have bothered if I had not downloaded the music and had the chance to listen...

I don't mind paying - I don't like getting ripped...
